No Rock N' Roll Fun

sad times for rock and roll music -- Sleater-Kinney announced a couple days ago that they're heading off on an indefinite hiatus, go see 'em on their last dates this summer if you can, especially if you never have. what a great, unique, galvanizing rock band! the moves, the beats, the voice, it's sad to not see them rock again as the power trio they are, but i bet they're not sad (well maybe a little), and i can tell you from Superchunk's occasionally interrupted extended hiatus (OIEH) that hiatuses are full of good times! i bet they know that. thanks, SK.

Hi, I stumbled upon your group accidentally trying to look for Joyce's "Clareana", one of my favorite songs, on the net. Instead, i stumbled upon the Portastatic version of it.

Interesting. I checked your website but there's nothing about where your group is from or anything. Interesting stuff though. Where can I read more about Portastatic?

very sad news. however, seeing the glass half full, i hope this means that janet weiss will be able to make more contributions to portastatic.

i am totally bummed about the s-k hiatus [which i hope is more like superchunk's, what with the occasional resurfacing and all] as well. with some bands, you can tell the break-up is coming from miles away; this one came totally out of left field. ive seen them continuously for a decade now and they've remained a favorite because of their inspiring shows. im still shocked.

so surprising. and "the woods" was such a strong album! i guess it's good to go out on top.

i hope to hear about solo projects in the works.
