What A Joke
If anyone thought that longtime-secessionist Sarah Palin was going to be a "game changer" her speech tonight put an end to that....a hectoring, sarcastic, empty, GOP-speechwriter-written screed that may indeed appeal to the (completely white, if attendees of their convention are an indication) base of her party, but the base of her party is much smaller than the base of the Democratic party. if this country elects the McCain / Palin ticket it's only because a portion of the electorate are still straight-up racist and won't vote for a black man no matter how qualified he happens to be, and no matter how incompetent, incoherent, and unfit to lead the Republican ticket is. unfortunately you can't rule out that unthinkable outcome at this point in our history.

what a joke- i agree. jumping out of my seat every couple of seconds, my wife made me "sit down and shut up!" so she could hear what Palin was trying to say. the constant booing by the crowd and barrage of low-blows leveled by Palin just amazed me. this is who the GOP wants representing them? Real experience aside (some will say Obama lacks the same) she seemed petty and disrespectful. Like a high schooler trying to cut down the outsider. just amazing that speech was set for the world stage...
Hey now...I saw at least 3 black people in the crowd of 18,000. The real problem is there are enough ignorant people that think the crap she is spewing is right. I'm feeling confident that Obama will win, but I'm not 100% sure and that makes me nervous. Mac, if McCain wins I hope you are willing to tour in Canada...since I will be there if Obama loses!
Scary, isn't it? People actually support that ticket. I second the moving to Canada if this country completely goes to hell. It's a frightening prospect, because it's a possible outcome. Although I pray there are enough people out there who can see with whom the hope lies.
To all the people who suggest moving to Canada, take it from me, it's not all it's cracked up to be. They just called the election up here and it's looking like the Conservative government may move from a minority government to a majority government (if you don't know what this means, you should learn more about Canada). If you think McCain is bad, just google Stephen Harper. I'm an expat who looks forward to bringing my new child back to Obama's U.S. I really can't think about the alternative.
