McCain Wants a TO?

McCain and his mute running mate are tanking so McCain wants a "time out" from the campaign and to postpone the debate on Friday....all for the sake of the country of course....doesn't he know you can't call time out if you don't have possession of the ball?

the McCain / Palin campaign seems more clownish all the time, but who knows maybe people will fall for this as some sort of "presidential, bi-partisan" move.

Or, in Chris Webber's case, if you don't have any timeouts left.

Coming from a guy who admits that economics isn't his strong suit, and who as recently as last week was saying the fundamentals of the economy are strong, you really have to ask what difference McCain being in D.C. will make - for the economy, that is. The benefits to his campaign - of not having to take on Obama in a reasoned, unscripted dialogue - is brutally obvious.

as Josh Marshall points out over at Talking Points Memo, those guys coming back to DC will literally do the opposite of what McCain is claiming he wants to do -- it will politicize the process even further. it's another desperate ploy.

I agree it's a plot, but I'm wary of overestimating the American electorate. McCain's trying hard to paint Obama as "politics as usual," so I fear this might have some traction. It's utterly ludicrous, of course, but I admit to being fearful.

It's so frightening that people are set so far into their narrow views that stunts like this don't phase them. McCain's entire campaign is one stunt after another.
