The Boss is Back
the new Springsteen album leaked last week and you know i found a way to hear it. the record is really good, but the two most surprising developments are:
1) someone could make a really good album called "Magic"
2) track 6 SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE MAGNETIC FIELDS. i'm not kidding, and it's a great song. it's called "Girls In Their Summer Clothes" and it's stuck in my head, just like a Stephin Merritt song would be.

Great record, isn't it? Love all the little classic Bruce touches: the piano intro on one song, the classic Clarence sax stuff, etc. Excellent call on the Magnetic Fields. Love that song.
If you wouldn't mind releasing some trade secrets.. how did you aquire the new Springsteen?
'Magic' is a weak album title name, but I downloaded the free version of "Radio Nowhere" and it was awesome! I really like the line "I want a thousand guitars/ I want a thousand drums/ I want a billion different voices speaking in tounges" it reminds me of something you would write... though not sure how you feel about actually having a thousand guitars and drums, but it's probably the flow or melody of that part.
i mentioned this song to my friend sean and he agreed:

Holy cow...didn't notice that on the first listen. How the hell could I miss that??
Can't wait until he comes to Denver...never seen the Boss. Always been a fan, but he took a backseat after I got into the indie rock (more than 15 years ago).
Thanks for doing some Springsteen covers, Mac...you revived the Boss for me.
Mac, I won't hear this record for a year or so, but it's wonderful that you dig the boss. Like the comment above it was two worlds colliding when I heard you say that. I always took friendly fire for my love of Bobby Jean's best mate...
Anyway, come back to New Zealand, bring the boys and play 100,000 fireflies (again)
