Hockey Night In Carolina
well i had to give up my ticket to the Carolina Hurricanes v NJ Devils playoff game tonight for some mother's day festivities (happy mother's day, moms), and the festivities were great, seems like the game was too (we do have a television, and watched it), for a couple reasons:
a) Canes close out the series 4-1, first time the RBC Center has seen a series-winning game...intense hockey throughout
b) at one point during a fight (featuring Hurricanes defenseman Mike Commodore) "Punch Me Harder" was played on the PA system!?!
Martin, the publicist at Merge, delivered a few cds to the arena a couple games ago but i really thought they wouldn't even listen to them, much less put a song in the rotation...awesome.

That is so cool, "punch me harder" during a hockey fight. That should be the official hockey fight song, worldwide. I think Alice Cooper once said something to the effect that what he should have done as a musician was write a song that gets played at sporting events all the times. Who knows maybe Superchunk could be put on a "jock jams" cd sometime.
I wonder how well "Slack Motherfucker" would go down for an arena audience.
i thought they were trying to discourage violence at hockey games?!
